D4 Medicals for PCV, Bus and Minibus Drivers, for initial application and renewal.
A D4 medical is required of all PCV and bus drivers when applying for a provisional category D licence. After the initial medical you need a renewal medical at the age of 45, obligatory every 5 years until it becomes an annual requirement at 65.
If you passed your driving test after 1997, you will require a D4 medical to obtain a provisional D1 licence if you want to drive a minibus over 3.5 tonnes, commercially or otherwise.
